Compare the2025 Nissan AriyaVS 2025 Porsche Taycan

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Ariya are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Taycan doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Ariya Platinum+ has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Taycan doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Both the Ariya and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Nissan Ariya achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Taycan has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

Nissan’s powertrain warranty covers the Ariya 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Taycan. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Taycan ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Nissan pays for scheduled maintenance on the Ariya for 1 year and 12000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the Taycan (3/36,000 vs. 2/24,000).

There are over 5 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Ariya’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Ariya’s reliability 32 points higher than the Taycan.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are better in initial quality than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Nissan above average in initial quality. With 6 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is rated lower.

The Ariya can travel longer on a full charge than the Taycan Cross Turismo on a full charge:

For better traction, the Ariya has larger standard tires than the Taycan (235/55R19 vs. 225/55R19).

The Ariya has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Taycan doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For better maneuverability, the Ariya’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the Taycan w/Rear Axle Steering’s (35.4 feet vs. 36.7 feet). The Ariya’s turning circle is 4 feet tighter than the Taycan Cross Turismo’s (35.4 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

The Nissan Ariya may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 150 to 300 pounds less than the Porsche Taycan.

The Ariya is 1 foot shorter than the Taycan Cross Turismo, making the Ariya easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Ariya has standard flush composite headlights. The Taycan has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The Ariya Platinum+ uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Taycan doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Ariya has 9.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Taycan Cross Turismo (101.2 vs. 92).

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Ariya’s rear seats recline. The Taycan’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Ariya has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Taycan Cross Turismo with its rear seat up (27.9 vs. 18.8 cubic feet). The Ariya has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Taycan Cross Turismo with its rear seat folded (59.7 vs. 45.8 cubic feet).

On a hot day the Ariya’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Taycan can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Ariya’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Taycan’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Consumer Reports rated the Ariya’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the Taycan’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Ariya has standard extendable sun visors. The Taycan doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Insurance will cost less for the Ariya owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Ariya will cost $5985 to $14575 less than the Taycan over a five-year period.
