Safety

Both the Ariya and the Optiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Nissan Ariya achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Optiq has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

Warranty

Nissan pays for scheduled maintenance on the Ariya for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Nissan will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Optiq.

There are almost 2 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Ariya’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Nissan above average in initial quality. With 48 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

Engine

The Ariya Engage’s standard electric motors produces 35 more horsepower (335 vs. 300) and 59 lbs.-ft. more torque (413 vs. 354) than the Optiq’s electric motors. The Ariya Engage+/Evolve+/Platinum+’s standard electric motors produces 89 more horsepower (389 vs. 300) and 88 lbs.-ft. more torque (442 vs. 354) than the Optiq’s electric motors.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Ariya has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Optiq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Ariya + e-4ORCE’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Optiq:

Tires and Wheels

The Ariya has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Optiq doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Ariya’s turning circle is 4.4 feet tighter than the Optiq’s (35.4 feet vs. 39.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Ariya has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Optiq (6.7 vs. 6 inches), allowing the Ariya to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Nissan Ariya may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 150 to 850 pounds less than the Cadillac Optiq.

The Ariya is 6.9 inches shorter than the Optiq, making the Ariya easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Ariya Platinum+ uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Optiq doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Ariya has .7 inches more front legroom, 1 inch more front hip room, .1 inches more front shoulder room and 1.5 inches more rear hip room than the Optiq.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Ariya’s rear seats recline. The Optiq’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The Ariya has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Optiq with its rear seat up (27.9 vs. 26 cubic feet). The Ariya has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Optiq with its rear seat folded (59.7 vs. 57 cubic feet).

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Ariya to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for tire rotation, based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Cadillac doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Optiq.

Ergonomics

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Ariya has a standard rear wiper. The Optiq doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Model Availability

The Ariya is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Optiq doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
