Safety

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Armada SL 4x4/Platinum 4x4/PRO-4X/NISMO’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The QX80 doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

Both the Armada and the QX80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

Warranty

There are over 5 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Armada’s warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Armada’s reliability 15 points higher than the QX80.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are better in initial quality than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Nissan second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 73 more problems per 100 vehicles, Infiniti is ranked 28th, below the industry average.

Engine

The Armada NISMO’s standard 3.5 turbo V6 produces 10 more horsepower (460 vs. 450) than the QX80’s 3.5 turbo V6.

Tires and Wheels

The Armada has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the QX80; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Armada’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the QX80’s (40.8 feet vs. 41.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Armada PRO-4X has a 1.6 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the QX80 Luxe/Sport/Autograph (11.6 vs. 10 inches), allowing the Armada to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Armada has 2.5 inches more front headroom and 2.2 inches more rear headroom than the QX80.

Economic Advantages

According to iSeeCars.com the 2026 Nissan Armada retains 39.62% of its original value after 5 years, more than the 35% resale value of the 2026 Infiniti QX80 after five years, which can save the Nissan’s owner up to $18860 in depreciation.

Recommendations

The Nissan Armada outsold the Infiniti QX80 by 29% during 2025.
